Celebrating FIVE Years

This year on August 29, Pablo and I celebrated our fifth year of marriage! This is what we did last year:  http://pabloylauravelez.blogspot.com/2013/08/anniversary.html
This year we wanted to go in a different direction. A really different direction, haha! We went camping in a tepee by the Platte river with PJ. Campfire eating, bug spray, roasted marshmallows, the whole package.

Campfire-cooked mac n' cheese for dinner ;)
The night was chilly and a little wet, but that's just how camping is so we came prepared. PJ slept between us and we had brought glow sticks and that was a tremendous hit for night-time fun. A couple of funny things: we heard howling (coyotes?) and PJ woke up at 3:30 in the morning and was WIDE AWAKE. We could only laugh, haha. It took him 30 minutes to go back to sleep and he slept great through the morning, sleeping in until 8:30.

roasted marshmallows are completely acceptable for breakfast when camping

He was the most adorable thing in the morning. He had dirt, marshmallow, and little sticks ALL over him.

After breakfast and breaking camp, we went a very small hike. We were hoping to get a view of the Platte river, which we did, but it was more obscured by trees then we had hoped. It our first hike as a family of three, so that was a lot of fun for PJ and I to have Pablo with us and share with that.

We started the drive home around noon, showered, and took a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL nap. Haha. Camping is tiring! Then we prettied ourselves up, picked up our babysitter for PJ, and headed to Brother Sebastian's Steakhouse and Winery for dinner.

Happy five years Amorsito!
