Little Monsters

We had a little monsters themed birthday for PJ's first!
Chocolate monster cakes

Baby snack tray

Chicken salad sandwiches with chips
Monster popcorn mix
Hand-painting craft and coloring pages
Home-sewn Monster party favors! I wanted to keep all them, they were so cute

This Monster here was my gift to PJ to go with his theme: a stuffed Monster that I made for him
We filled the living room with balloons. It was a hit- all the little babies had a blast in there. I am so glad we captured PJ's face on camera when he first saw all the balloons, it was priceless.

Daddy coloring with the birthday boy :)

After sandwiches, crafts, and the opening of presents, it was time for the birthday cake. I was excited for this part, I wanted to take pictures of him just covered in frosting and stuffing his face, haha.

Aaannnnd we ended the party in the sink, washing up :)

 Happy Birthday Little Monster ;)

One Year Old!

After all the monthly updates and baby milestones, our PJ has hit the big first year birthday! Yep, so when I compare to last year, it will no longer be: "Oh, I was 8 months pregnant this time last year." or "This time last year, I was just seeing PJ on the ultrasound." No, now we'll be experiencing Pj's second Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. He has just shot up over night it seems too! With his long legs and new haircut, he really does look like a toddler now. I can see how moms can get baby hungry again, I look at him and can't believe he was the same 7 lb baby I held in my arms a year ago. But as cute as babies are, I am really loving this age.

-- He talks and laughs and explored anywhere and everywhere in the house. I find him under the baby grand piano a lot these days, haha.

-- He's a mixture of shy and sociable. At church he is a huge socialite and a bit of a distraction to the families behind us. But at the same time, he's quite and reserved if approached vis-à-vis.

-- He will walk if he can hold one of our hands. He's taken tentative steps on his own and I think it's just insecurity that leads to the hand holding. He is so close! Come one little guy, Daddy wants to play soccer with you!

-- Drinking whole milk

-- No more bottles!

I took his year photos myself in our backyard. I'm pretty proud of how they turned out! Towards the end he became tired of being my modal and wanted to play. He loves being outside and whenever he's having a hard time we just go to the backyard. I snapped pictures while he crawled on me or explored and those are my favorites. They show his sweet face and loving personality better than the picture perfect shots :)

So I love this guy. Like a lot. I love that I get to be there to see him grow and change with each passing year. Happy First birthday Pablito :)

Stairs

It was time we put a gate up on the stairs. He could book it up to the 5th step, easily, by the time we turned back to him, haha. When we would have an eye on him, he'd raise his leg onto the first step and once we said "no" or made our way over to him, then "whoosh" up he went! Giggling and laughing as we caught him on the third or fourth step. Mom and dad can't keep an eye on him ALL the time however, so it's nice to have something helping us out. Sorry little buddy :(
