Four Years

Pablo and I were married August 29, 2009 in the
LDS Winter Quarters, Nebraska Temple.
Four years later and here we are, back in Nebraska and, if it's possible, happier than we were four years ago. Love is an amazing thing, the way it snuggles up into your heart until life without the other person just seems impossible. I still feel like the luckiest girl :)

This year we handed PJ over to his grandparents for a day, night, and the next morning so we could stay in a hotel and visit downtown Omaha like tourists. We first walked over the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge; a bridge that crosses the Missouri River into Iowa. Our favorite part was getting to the middle and feeling it sway a little, even spending some time watching the water flow underneath us. Back in Idaho where we went to school, 'bridge-jumping' is really popular. I never got a chance to do it, but Pablo did once. The bridge was not even half the height of the Pedestrian bridge and he said it still hurt. Looking down into the flowing Missouri, I couldn't imagine free falling from that height.

Just down the riverfront, back on Nebraska soil, is the Lewis and Clark Landing Visitor Center. We stopped in and learned more about Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery.

Trying our penmanship with a quill
We're located right under Omaha, where it reads "Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Headquarters"
I stole Capt. Meriwether Lewis's outfit

Next we visited the Joselyn Art Museum, which has free admission to the end of this year, thanks to a member of the Warren Buffet family. It has a great collection of contemporary work and abstract pieces, as well as artwork from different eras of European and American history. The building itself is beautiful. It's made out of this stunning pink marble, with pillars, etchings on the walls, and steps flowing down from the front doors.

The grounds of the museum is a sort of exhibit in itself. There was an interactive piece of work dedicated to the river-scape of Nebraska. It was humid and sunny out, so the cool water was refreshing on our feet :)

We finished the day off in the Old Market of Omaha. The Old Market is known for it's cobblestone streets, remodeled brick buildings, contemporary dining, and artistic expression. We ate Italian, a place called Vivace, but walking around after dinner we saw Persian and Indian cuisines, as well as an oyster bar and an Irish pub.

The Old Market in the late evening was the perfect close to our anniversary. A fusion of blue, pink, and purple made the evening sky and the air was warm with a cool breeze flitting here and there. We stopped and listened to a saxophone player on the corner and took a picture of a dog relaxing on the horse carriage. It was busy for a Thursday night, busier than I thought it would be. But Pablo and I are both bit of people-watchers, so we enjoyed strolling along the cobblestone streets and talking.

(This picture would be PERFECT, if it weren't for the finger-mustache I gave myself, haha.)

Here's to four years married with my best and closest friend, my love, my husband :)

Bob, Frank, Francis, and Joe

I met Charisse back in 2002, when her family moved into the area and my dad invited them over for dinner. She and I were in charge of making the garlic bread and we've been friends ever since!
Chelsea and I met at a mutual friends birthday party where we started a ice-cube fight together.
Renee met Charisse and I at Chelsea's birthday party. We hit it off right away. I always wore a baseball cap to everything back then and her and I were the only ones there with hats:) And Charisse, Renee, and I were all learning German in school, so we could pretend to talk to each other, haha.

2006
So by our junior year in high school (Charisse's senior year) we were always together. I have a lot of good memories with these girls. Pretty much any crazy story from high school includes one or all of these girls, haha!

2009
We joke that we can never get the four of us back together unless one of us is getting married, haha. It seems to be the case.

2010
2011
This last week, Charisse and I were able to see Chelsea and her little guy. The three of us all have boys who were born in this last year. Chelsea lives in Idaho, so we soaked up every up every minute we could with her and her baby boy.

Holding Chelsea's baby for the first time :)

Chelsea's helping PJ learn to walk while Charisse feeds her little cutie :)

Love these girls and their little boys :) We were just missing Renee to make these pictures perfect. No worries, we'll all four get together again when Renee gets married! ;)

Father's Day 2013

Yes, Father's day was a long time ago and I forgot to post it. It wouldn't be a big deal except that this was his first Father's day :) And that only comes around once in a dad's life :)

His fabulous lunch featured:
    fried dill pickles
a hot and melty Rueben on dark rye
And for his first Father's day gifts, he got:
his own bag of Mike n' Ikes (because I'm always piecing out of his:)
a cute picture and frame of his little man

He is the best thing to happen to me. I couldn't imagine a better partner to raise a family with or a better father for our PJ. The days he can come home early and play with PJ are my favorite. He and PJ get together and I can hear their laughs all the way from across the level. It makes me smile just thinking about it, haha. He does everything for his family and I love him for that :)
Happy FIRST Father's Day Pablo !

10 months

PJ is 10 (1/2) months!
A much needed update on what he's been up to:
*  Eating meat, yogurt, juice, and pieces of whatever mom and dad are eating.
*  Is wearing "Big Boy" pajamas now.
*  Got his first hair-cut about a month ago
*  Crawling, everywhere, and quickly
*  Can stand up and down by himself. Still working on the walking part. He can do it holding onto the back handle of his car or with help.
*  Likes watching "Jake and the Neverland Pirates."
*  Waves "bye-bye"!
*  Gives kisses on the nose. But not so sure if you want one, they're slobbery, haha!
*  Has officially learned to crawl up the stairs! I'm working teaching him to get down now ;)

There are only 1 1/2 months until PJ turns a year old! I am ecstatic. The in-laws will be coming up and I've got an idea for his first birthday party in the works. Am I going to be one of those moms who plans a birthday party for a baby? Yes, yes I am :)
